The Camp runs 10:00 AM - 5:00 PM Daily
Sessions are divided into 1 hour increments "Take a Break" sessions are disbursed throughout the day to give students time to revitalize their brain so learning can resume easily. Students are encouraged to explore the many interesting things on the farm. Craft stations will be available and projects are geared toward music and nature. Many crops will be ready for harvest as well. Eggs to gather and chickens to  visit... Badminton and Horse shoes are among the other activities fiddle campers may enjoy during their "Take a Break" sessions.
Students are designated to their master teacher according to playing level.

Curriculum Includes:

Recognizing Note Patterns - All music has patterns. Learning to hear these allows the student to learn batches of notes rather then trying to identify each note in a phrase separately. Students will be exploring these ideas through carefully chosen fiddle tunes. This is the Suziddle way of helping students to achieve mastery of skill and musical knowledge.
Understanding Bowing- Bowing is an integral part of effective fiddling. Students learn the basic foundation of bowing principals and how to create "bowing variations"
Intonation Helpers - Certain left hand teaching techniques aid in improving intonation. Playing "in tune" is very important for the Violinist/Fiddler. Ear training a powerful tool used to develop this skill. Students will also play in harmony as this helps the ear discern correct noting and in turn improve intonation.

Improvisation- Improvising is a very fun part of fiddling! Students will explore how to build a melody or "tune" starting with a basic version and expanding from there. Often players are unsure about how to do this or afraid of "playing it wrong". Our instructors will help the student understand how this works and in turn build confidence that will allow the student to experiment without fear.

Group Experience & Integrated classes
- The Red Barn Fiddle camp is an integrated learning experience. More advanced students inspire those just starting out which helps foster desire to continue to practice. More advanced or older students become mentors and learn leaderships skills. Playing together as a group lends itself to a unique learning and growth experience. Some tunes presented will be taught  to all levels as a way of demonstrating some probabilities of tune variation.  Students will also learn twin harmonies so that they can learn group performance skills.  Instructors take care to present a cohesive curriculum enabling the student to apply points learned at our camp towards their individual path to future growth . Often techniques, if taught properly, and at the appropriate time, will lead the student into a skill set that can be applied as they progress. Our instructors take care to  consistently present ideas and skills that will carry the student on to a higher level of mastery. This is the Suziddle way!
